Ghorepani Poon Hill ABC Trek is loaded with features that include a trek to Ghorepani (2874m), Poon Hill (3210m) & Annapurna Base Camp (ABC 4130m) – all situated within the Annapurna Conservation Area. Annapurna is a Sanskrit name that literally means “full of food”, but is normally translated as “Goddess of the Harvests”. The region was first explored by the British adventurer Col. James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts in 1950 and referred to it as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. To this day it also referred to as the Annapurna Sanctuary.
